Carbon Conscious
Supporting Carbon Neutral Cannabis Production
The Cannabis Conservatory, in partnership with Boulder County’s Energy Impact Offset Fund (EIOF) Committee, recognizes the urgent need for stewardship and accountability within the cannabis cultivation market. The Boulder County Carbon Conscious Certification (BC CCC) was created to support cultivators working towards carbon neutral cannabis production. The BC CCC is a voluntary program open to all cannabis cultivators enrolled in Boulder County’s Energy Impact Offset Fund program. This certification aims to encourage and reward organizations throughout their energy optimization journey. Certified organizations will create meaningful reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions, with the goal of becoming carbon neutral over a three-year period.
The benefits of the BCCCC are twofold: to support cultivation companies by providing a framework to improve their cultivation methods, and to provide a market forward tool that recognizes their involvement in the Fund and energy efficiency efforts. In 2021, the certification was expanded to include cultivators throughout Colorado. At a time when growers are facing shrinking margins and increased competition, this certification distinguishes them from their competition while increasing their products’ value. We are proud to offer the certification to all of Colorado now.
The Cannabis Conservancy provides Colorado cannabis cultivation companies with an industry leading energy certification program that is both practical and cost-effective. The certification process is designed to help cultivators by providing a step-by-step framework for strategic energy management, implementation guidance, employee training, and compliance support. We understand that this is a long-term commitment to continual improvement. Our standards and certification process are based on a pragmatic approach that incorporates and appreciates the uniqueness of each individual’s practices, while working to preserve the historic, cultural, and genetic heritage of the cannabis plant.
